The s kin
is divided into three layers:
-
The epidermis,
this part is right outside, the top portion of your skin.
-
The dermis
is the next layer, which is just below the epidermis. The dermis contains
a whole load of stuff like,
a. Nerve endings- these help by connecting the brain and skin
and thus telling you about what you’ve touched, what you feel, etc.
b. Blood vessels- these help bring oxygen and nutrients to your
skin as well as take the waste stuff out of the skin.
c. Oil glands- also known as sebaceous glands because they are
always creating an oily substance called the sebum. The sebum keeps
your skin lubricated and protected. It even makes your skin waterproof,
which means you won’t find yourself having very soggy skin.
d. Sweat glands- these as the name suggests produce sweat glands.
-
The subcutaneous
layer is the third and lowest layer of the skin. It is made up of
a lot of fat, which keeps the body warm and even absorbs shock. The
roots of your hair are also found here.
