Home front

Arguments at home? Parents getting you down? Feel that they don't understand?

Your parents were young once too, they probably do understand but they're doing what they think is best for you. It doesn't always feel like that and you may get frustrated and angry. Try telling them how you feel - don't bottle it up. Talk to them but listen to them too. Try to work things out - keep your cool.

You may be looking after someone at home - mum or dad might be ill, younger brothers and sisters may need you around too. It can be difficult being all things to all people - if you can help out that's great, families are all about pulling together and looking out for each other. Just remember you need time too.

Families may not always stay together - mums and dads split up for lots of different reasons. You may find it really difficult to deal with but remember it's not your fault, you are not responsible for other people. Everyone has to make their own decisions. You can't make decisions for your parents and you may not like what they do. You may feel in the middle of things, or feel as if you should or shouldn't take sides. It will help you to talk about things. If you don't want to talk to your folks, if it's all too close to home, try a friend or another relative.
