Watching your step!!!

A trim figure and graceful movements look smart and attractive. We may not all have a good
figure, but we can train ourselves to walk and move gracefully.

Learn to stand well:
Draw yourself up tall. Keep this position and relax your muscles so that....

1. You are not standing stiffly.
2. Tuck your tummy in and pull your shoulders down.
3. Breathe deeply and easily.
4. Keep your head up and smile.
5. If you have round shoulders, practice circling your arm backwards. This will help to correct the position of your shoulders.
6. If you have to stand for a long time, stand with your feet a little way apart, keeping your weight evenly balanced on both feet. Do not rest your weight first on one foot and then on the other.

Sit well into the chair
...

1. Pulling your back and tummy muscles up and your shoulders back.
2. Relax your muscles so that you are sitting comfortably, but keep the same position. Do not sprawl or slump.
3. When you are sitting, keep your feet evenly on the floor. You may put one  foot behind the other, but do not twine your legs  around one another or round the chair legs.
4. Rest your hands comfortably in your lap..

Walk gracefully...

Everyone can learn to walk gracefully. First make sure that your shoes are comfortable. Start from a good standing position. Point your toes straight ahead with your weight resting on the outside of your feet.

Take even steps lifting your thighs forward as you walk but without striding, bouncing or rolling your body from side to side. The inside of your knees should brush very lightly against each other as you walk.

Try walking with a fairly heavy book on your head. This will make you keep your head up and hold
your shoulders down. Relax your arms from the shoulders. Do not swing your arms too much or crook your elbows.

Watch how you stand and walk in high-heeled shoes. Heels that are too high throw the weight of your body on to the ball of the foot and tend to make you lean forward with bent knees.
